A former employee of Mediacorp has accused her colleague of saying sexist remarks to her.

Juwon Park is a producer for Channel News Asia’s Money Mind.

She posted her text conversation with the colleague who said she could not be a presenter she had no boobs, and “girls shouldn’t be too smart for their own good”.

The Facebook post has been taken down or made private.

In the screenshots of her conversation, the colleague reportedly apologised but said that it’s how the industry works and that he was “just being Australian”.

But besides that, she also posted on Facebook how she has experienced sexism in Mediacorp since she started 1.5 years ago.

She added that every time she shared her concerns with her colleagues, all of them tell her that she’s unlucky and that maybe she doesn’t understand Singapore culture. They also discourage her from going to HR.

WHY???

It’s quite impossible to have colleagues like these. She should have gone to the HR to report or maybe even go to TAFEP to report her experience.

But anyway, Mediacorp has responded as of yesterday:

“Mediacorp does not condone sexism in our workplace. We take a serious view to this matter and are investigating”
