5 things you missed about Elmo’s first visit to Singapore!

In case you missed it…Sesame Street’s furry red monster Elmo visited Singapore for the very first time!

Together with his puppeteer Ryan Dillon, they stopped over in the Philippines and Thailand before heading over to our little red dot. It’s part of a global initiative and social media campaign by Sesame workshop to promote kindness all over the world.

Here are five things you need to know about Elmo’s first visit to Singapore.

1) Elmo learns Singlish!

Elmo is a fast learner when it comes to picking up new words like “aiyo”, “chope” and a few other Singlish terms! We thought the cutest was “kaki” because Elmo pronounced it like “car key”.

It’s also an educational video because Elmo teaches children how to be polite (when it comes to greeting others or saying thank you) and respond attentively to others in a conversation.

2) Elmo interacts with Singaporean kids

You know how kids ask the cutest things that sometimes leave you stumped? Check out how Elmo tactfully answers some tough questions like who his best friend is and how he brushes his teeth when he has no teeth.

Watch the video till the end to hear Elmo sing Adele’s “rolling in the deep” song!

3) Elmo visits the Singapore Zoo

Elmo’s excitement and enthusiasm in visiting the zoo is rather infectious! He gets up close and personal with the white rhino, python, giant tortoise and lemur.

One of the netizens said that the tortoise looked like it was in love with Elmo.

4) Elmo learns how to order local drinks

Elmo learns how to order local drinks like “teh xiu dai” (tea with less sugar) and “kopi xiu dai” (coffee with less sugar) but didn’t actually get the chance to put his new skills to test!

Nonetheless, great to see Elmo immersing in our local culture.

5) Elmo learns Singapore’s history

Elmo didn’t post any videos of him at the museum but we’re sure he had lots of fun!
