Hi sureboh.sg, Im XXXX, below is the incident I have met with money max, hope you will publish this out to let people be more beware.

I was shock and frustrated with the service and professionalism that Money Max staff provided me, the incident goes like this…..

On 21st Aug 2017, due to some financial difficulties, I decided to pawn my gold ring and a gold pendant to Money Max, I chose Money Max because it’s the nearest to my house. That day, it was an uncle with spectacles who served me. After some inspection, the uncle told me my ring was 916k but my pendant was very old and its a 22k gold and he will be able to take both in at $185. I agreed.

Today, since I have a bit cash on hand I decided to take back my ring first and my pendent in the next few days than take back. So I went back to Money Max to redeem back my items. Since both gold was in the same receipt, I could only redeem both and pawn back the pendant.

Money Max

I asked the staff with the short hair, named Cindy how much it was in total. She told me $187.50 (which I heard wrongly). So I passed her $187.50 and after she counted and told me off rudely saying: “EH ITS 187.75 HOR”. I was kinda pissed off with her attitude. Why couldn’t she tell me nicely? I passed her another 30 cents and told her that I wanted to pawn the pendent again. So Cindy asked her partner Geraldine to come over.

Money Max

Geraldine told me if I wanted to pawn the pendent again, it would be worthed $45 (I know it’s not much). At this time I was still thinking whether I should take back both items or pawn first.

The most shocking moment came.

“Your pendent is fake so we are unable to take it in”, Geraldine said. I was so shocked. I told her if my pendent is fake, how come the uncle was able to take it in the other day? Cindy cut in and replied saying that “oh maybe you are a regular customer so the uncle trusted you and didn’t check on the pendent”. This is ridiculous! Firstly I’m not a regular customer. Secondly, the uncle did check on my pendent. And they just keep saying that it’s fake.

The pendent was bought by my grandmother for me more than 15 years ago. If it is fake, the gold would have definitely have dropped off and I remembered my grandmother brought me to the gold shop to buy it.

Now I’m afraid that they (Money Max) might swap my gold to fake gold. If currently my gold is still real then I question the professionalism of the Money Max staff and what if someone really sold them fake gold and they took it for real?

Money Max

Money Max, although my amount was not big but it concerns the trust and professionalism of your company. Are we able to trust you again? Will you change my real gold to a fake one if I pawned it in your company? Will you took in fake gold for real and sell off to customers? Or will you take in real gold and when the customer comes to redeem back the item or whatever and you tell us its fake as you didn’t check but the fact was you actually swap it away?
