The Sultan of Johor has decreed that the official English form of address for him be changed from “His Royal Highness” to “His Majesty”, effective from today (5 September 2017).
According to the Johor Council of Royal Court president Datuk Abdul Rahim Ramli, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar also decreed that his wife, Raja Zarith Sofiah Binti Almarhum Sultan Idrish Shah, will be addressed as “Her Majesty”.
The Malay title of “Duli Yang Maha Mulia” for Sultan Ibrahim and his wife remains unchanged.
If you get to meet them in person, Sultan Ibrahim will be addressed as “Your Majesty, Tuanku or Sir” and Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah as “Your Majesty, Tuanku or Madam”.
But how many of us will get to meet them in person anyway?
