Singaporean man charged for raping Chinese woman at knifepoint

A 25 year old man, Kelvin Singh Jagjit Singh was charged for raping a woman in Serangoon Gardens on 13 January 2016.

He spotted the woman, a 42 year old from China who was working as a cleaner and had intended to rob her. He followed her down a back allet and flung his bicycle on the ground and rushed at her with a Swiss army knife and demanded money.

But when he was unsuccessful, Kelvin decided to rape her.

He led the woman to a deserted spot and forced the woman to perform oral sex on him. Kevin raped her in the alley and forced her to perform oral sex on him again before he let her go.

He warned her not to call the police.

Her boyfriend called the police and she only reported that a dark-skinned man had tried to rape her.

Three days later, Kelvin was caught by the police but not before they chased him briefly after he fled in a taxi.

He pleaded guilty to the charges of aggravated rape and aggravated sexual assault. His sentencing will be at a later date.
