Indonesian fans first spotted the blunder in the SEA Games Souvenir Booklet where past SEA Games host countries were featured.

The next time the same blunder was made was in an infographic in a local newspaper.

Lol…not once but twice. Someone is gonna pay for it.

Indonesia’s Olympic Committee chairman Erick Thohir said the mistake “shows negligence” and demanded that the guidebook be reprinted.

Even Indonesian President Jokowi said they are waiting for an apology from the Malaysian government because this is “related to the pride of our nation”.

On Sunday, Malaysian Minister for Youth and Sports Khairy Jamaluddin met his Indonesian counterpart at a hotel and handed over a letter of apology.

“On behalf of Malaysian Organising Committee (Masoc), I have apologised to my counterpart Bapak Imam and here I would also like to say sorry to all the Indonesians over this mistake… it’s a big mistake but untintentional and it happened due to our carelessness.”

President Jokowi has called on all parties to not exaggerate the issue. He said although the matter was regrettable, people in the country should not overplay the issue.
