If you’re a Singaporean or Hong Konger visiting Bangkok, it’s easier and faster to clear immigration now.

Both international airports at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang have implemented a new scheme to allow the visitors from the two countries to use the automatic passport scanners which are now reserved for Thai nationals.

The system will cut short the immigration processing time per person from about 1 minute to about 20 to 30 seconds, eligible visitors will also not have to queue for about 30 minutes.

Visitors from Hong Kong and Singapore were chosen to use the system because they both made more frequent visits to Thailand as compared to visitors from other countries.

According to the immigration department spokesperson, about 9 million Chinese tourists visit Thailand each year, while about 1 million visitors from Hong Kong and Singapore come to Thailand a year. But he said, Chinese tourists usually visit Thailand once and never come back. But those from Hong Kong and Singapore visit Thailand several times a year.

Yup, Limpeh got many friends who visit Bangkok MANY times a year. Some go shopping, some go massage, some go for secretive reasons and don’t want to tell limpeh.

Now lagi easier to go, sure got more friends will visit Bangkok many more times.

Bangkok friends, please help to take care of our Singapore brothers and sisters, #KhobKhunKrap!
