Boon Tat Street murder faces the death penalty if convicted

Boon Tat Street Murder Case:

Tan Nan Seng, 69-year-old, has been charged with one count of murdering Spencer Sanjay Tuppani Shamla Tuppani, 38-year-old, during lunchtime at a coffee shop at 121 Telok Ayer Street on Monday (July 10, 2017).

Tan, understood to be the victim’s father-in-law allegedly stabbed Spencer Tuppani at around 1.20 pm.

Mr Spencer Tuppani, who is an outstanding entrepreneur, who had risen to prominence after turning around port services provider TNS Ocean Lines collapsed about 70m away at 27 Boon Tat Street, where an eatery named A Poke Theory is located.

He was taken to Singapore General Hospital unconscious and subsequently died.

Tuppani was also one of four finalists for an Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2014 by the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and DBS.

Tan will be remanded until his next appearance in court on Jul 19.

If convicted, he faces the death penalty.
