Top 5 light-hearted moments that happened in Parliament today that you cannot miss

If you’re busy catching up on today’s Parliament session with over 10,000 Facebook posts on who said what (ok that’s an exaggerated figure), here are 5 light-hearted moments that you shouldn’t miss.

Everyone needs a break from the Lee saga!

1) Low Thia Khiang said the saga is not a “Korean drama show”

Remember Workers’ Party Chief Low Thia Khiang who dramatically asked Singaporeans to “slap the driver” if the bus is going to drop down? The way he described the Lee saga as a serious issue “damaging the Singapore brand” and how it is not a “Korean drama show” is too funny. You got to watch him speak to know what we mean.

This guy actually makes sense.

2) Reactions from the MPs

We have to admit that this kind of cracked us up. Three of them actually had the same facial expression!

We know how complicated this matter is. And there are way more important issues to discuss like how to fix the train breakdowns and how to fight terrorism. The Lee family should seriously settle this privately – the look on their faces says it all!

3) DPM Teo Chee Hean’s hair has turned (almost) all white

Is it just us or does DPM Teo look like he has aged 10 years? His hair was still a sea of black some four years ago! Born in 1954, DPM Teo is only 63 this year.

We sure hope he isn’t too stressed out from chairing the ministerial committee or handling the fierce accusations from Mr Lee Hsien Yang and Dr Lee Wei Ling.

4) Ho Ching focusing in Parliament

If you’ve been following Madam Ho Ching on Facebook, you’ll know that she is very active on social media. She is able to publish 30 posts in a span of five minutes! Don’t believe us? Count the number of posts she had from 7:00am to 7:05am this morning.

Her last post was published at 11:05am and she hasn’t published anything since then. Someone noted that she was seated alone in the VIP gallery in Parliament! If that’s true, that means she is focusing in Parliament and not on her Facebook!

By the way, she’s probably there because PM Lee’s siblings dragged her into the picture. Last time, the ex-CEO of HDB was also there when he was summoned to answer questions in parliament.

5) Because Sun Xueling.

Looking at her speak in Parliament each time reminds us of how she won our hearts with her debut Hokkien speech during GE 2015. We can look at her all day. Watch her English speech here and Mandarin speech here.

P.S. She sounds so good in Mandarin that she should just be a Channel 8 news broadcaster.

On a more serious note

This public fiasco has been debated in Parliament for almost half a day! PM has apologised (again) and have addressed accusations on abuse of power.

The Lee family should seriously take this issue offline and allow the rest of Singapore to focus on more important issues. In case you missed it, PM Lee is meeting Trump face-to-face for the first time at the G20 summit on Jul 7 and 8. Now, that’s exciting!
