Man on bus refused to remove his groceries on the chair to allow other passenger sit

A netizen Kalvert’s sister-in-law had an unpleasant bus ride home when she met this man who refused to give up his groceries seat to her when the bus is full.

Below is his account of what happened:

“OK I rarely do this. But this incident is too infuriating.

This happened to my sis-in-law, she is not active on Facebook so I’m sharing this on her behalf. The incident happened on 27th June 2017, around 6.50pm on Bus 86 towards Sengkang (Around Abundant Grace Church along Jalan Kayu). My sis-in-law was onboard this full bus and seeing this man with his groceries

My sis-in-law was onboard this full bus and seeing this man with his groceries on the chair, asked if he could remove them so she could sit. This “well-dressed” uncle ignored her, so my sis-in-law tried to snap a picture of his ungracious behaviour. Out of the sudden, this unreasonable man GRABBED AND TWISTED her arm and THREW her phone onto the floor. He then tried to make a run for it but thankfully, the passengers on the bus caught hold of him so the police can come and deal with this.

The police arrived but guess what, they deem this as a “civil conflict case” and if we want anything to happen, we have no choice but to SPEND MONEY to engage a lawyer to sue him. In the end, only a police report is made. I don’t understand the law, but if today I was to GRAB & TWIST a policeman’s arm, I would get arrested immediately right? Why are they protected by the uniform they wear, where else normal citizens like us have to engage a lawyer to prosecute an obvious case of bodily harm/damage of personal assets?

Anyway, since the police cannot do anything about this, I hope all my friends who read this can share the ugly deeds of this man on social media.

*Edit: As usual, the really “calm” people are asking why snap his pictures in the first place. I would really love to see how they respond if this happens to them or their loved ones. If no one also took a video in the case of the hawker

If no one also took a video in the case of the hawker center saga, the couple wouldn’t have been charged in court. And this is a FULL BUS, there is no other seat to move to.”
