Pay more to say “I Do” from this Saturday

Share

From this Saturday (1 July 2017), couples who register their marriage at the Registry of Marriages (ROM) will have to pay more for to say “I Do”.

ROM

Couples where at least 1 party who is a Singaporean citizen or permanent resident (PR) will pay $42 in marriage registration fees as compared to $26 that they pay now. (Luckily Limpeh got married many years ago sia…)

But don’t complain ok? Becos foreigners have to pay up to three times more. Foreigners currently pay $128 on weekdays, $198 on weekends and $298 on popular days. From Saturday, they have to pay a flat fee of $380.

And don’t complain hor…it’s not everytime  that ROM increase prices lor…the last time they did an increase was in 2005. Means 12 years never increase already. And the increase is to keep up with rising operational costs, and to ensure that service quality is maintained. (Yup, getting you and your fiancee to sompah also need service quality okayyy!…)

Oh, but hor, ROM has measures in place to help couples who have financial difficulties and can waive fees on a case-by-case basis, so don’t worry.
