A 66 year old auntie recently got into a heated argument with the assistant and owner of a popular Yong Tau Foo stall in Lucky Plaza.

chill pill

In a video posted by Zaobao, she even kicked up a big fuss and overturned her own bowl of Yong Tau Foo, splashing the contents onto the table and on the ground. Other customers around can be seen turning around in shock, with one almost getting hit by the contents of the bowl.

According to the video, the auntie was upset that she was overcharged 70 cents for her food. She had picked 8 kinds of Yong Tau Foo ingredients which costed 70 cents each, but was charged for 9 pieces. She yelled at the assistant for overcharging her. The wife of the owner then stepped forward to check and after realising it was a mistake, returned her the extra 70 cents.

But the auntie wasn’t happy and continued to raise her voice, saying that the shop intentionally tried to cheat her money.

Owner Mr Lim said that the auntie didn’t want to hear the explanation and kept insisting the shop was cheating her and overturned her bowl of soup which almost hit another customer.

“It’s the first time experiencing this situation in the 26 years of  running my business here.”

According tothe owner, the auntie had eaten at the shop a few times and once complained about the “bad attitude” of the shop assistants.

When Zaobao reporters reached the auntie for comments, she said the assistant did not apologise for the mistake and even verbally shamed her.

“They shouted at me the whole time, saying “if you cannot afford, then don’t eat,”.

“They also scolded Hokkien vulgarities at me.”

Aigoo…Auntie, take a chill pill lar. No need get so upset just for 70 cents nia…
