48-year-old, Ang Sim Poh, was charged with committing a rash act to endanger the personal safety of others by throwing bowls, tables and chairs in the Heng Long Teochew Porridge.
He is the third person to be charged in the case so far. A fourth man, Mr Yeoh Keng Hock, 53, who was arrested earlier this week, is being investigated.
He is accused of throwing bowls, tables and chairs in the eatery ‘Heng Long Teochew Porridge’ with three others: Pang Pei Pei, 40, Tan Sung Meng, 46, and Yeoh Keng Heng, 53. Pang and Tan were charged on Wednesday while Yeoh has yet to be charged.
Ang is represented by lawyer Rajan Supramaniam and is out on S$5,000 bail and will return to court on Jun 21, 2017. If found guilty, he may be jailed up to six months and/or fined up to S$2,500.
Pang Pei Pei and Tan Sung Meng contacted Shin Min Daily News and explained to the media that they are actually regular customers in the eatery and they were not drunk that night.
Ms Pang claimed that after she ordered her food, she went back to the table and chatted with her group of friends. She then handed the staff a $50 note to pay for her food. However, she did not check how much change was given to her and proceeded to keep the change in her pocket.
Later, they decided to order one more dish and she realized she was charged $28 for the earlier dishes. She requested the staff from the eatery to explain to her the cost of each dish but the staff reportedly appeared rude towards her. That was how they flared up and wrecked the stall.
However, Ms Pang admitted that a mistake is a mistake and they will plead guilty to the charges.
