The boy was knocked down by a car while he was crossing the road to get to a bus stop, said Mr Lee, adding that he sustained ‘serious injuries’.

“I heard a loud bang and when I turned around, I saw a boy lying on the road.

“His whole head was bloody. The boy tried sitting up but passersby told him not to move.

“Soon after the accident, some medical personnel came to the scene and tended to the boy before the ambulance arrived.” said Mr Lee

The Singapore Civil Defence Force and Singapore Police Force was alerted to the accident along Yishun Ring Road at about 6.30pm on Sunday.

“A boy sustained head injuries and was taken to Khoo Teck Puat hospital,” said the spokesman.

He added that the hospital was alerted to be on standby to receive the patient, which typically indicates that the injuries were severe.

The 10-year-old male pedestrian was taken conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, and police investigations are ongoing.
