In an article published by Shin Min Daily News, the 46-year-old man in the video is the director of the tuition centre, and his 39-year-old wife is a tutor there teaching mathematic.

The dispute was apparently over an empty table at the hawker centre, which the couple said had been ‘reserved’ for them on Friday (21 April, 2017) evening approximately 8.45pm when the elderly man, who was holding a tray of food, was asking the woman how many people were sitting at the table.

The incident has sparked national outrage and later arrested by the police for the offence of Public Nuisance under Section 290 of the Penal Code may be punished with a fine which may extend to $1,000.

Shin Min reporter has confirmed the identity and the occupation of the couple.

According to ACRA records, the tuition centre is solely owned by Alida Trading Pte Ltd. It is noted that Mr Chow Chuin Yee is the only one director listed in the company who is 46-year-old.

The website of the tuition centre on April 20, 2017 (before the day before the incident) shows that the wife is a tuition teacher in the centre teaching premium mathematics.

Man deny is the video lead

“They get to know each other during a holiday trip, and the two decided to get married in Malaysia a few years ago.”

It is understood that the woman is a Singaporean, her husband is a new citizen from Malaysia.

Reporters yesterday visited the husband and wife home, a man opened the door and he denied is the man in the video. When the reporter asked, the man seemed a little impatient, and quickly closed the door.
