Operator escaped after crane topples at Outram Park station construction site

A crane collapsed at Outram Park station worksite on Tuesday (April 25, 2017) afternoon.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the incident at the junction of Outram Road and Eu Tong Seng Street at about 2.50pm.

Sure Boh Singapore understands there is no casuality in this accident and the operator managed to jump out of the crane in time.

SCDF dispatched two fire engines. A water jet was set up as a precautionary measure.

The Land Transport Authority in a tweet at 2.28pm alerted motorists of an accident on Outram Road, near the associated junction.

Outram Park station an interchange station connecting the Thomson Line with the East-West and North-East lines, allowing commuters to enjoy connectivity between the northern, central, eastern and western parts of Singapore.

The construction of Outram Park station (T222) and its associated tunnels has been awarded to Daelim Industrial Co. Ltd at a contract sum of approximately S$301 million by LTA on May 27, 2014.

Daelim Industrial Co. Ltd (Daelim) is a Korean company established in 1939.  As one of the top construction and engineering companies in Korea, Daelim has undertaken numerous subways and high speed railway projects in Korea, e.g. Daegu Metropolitan Railway, Seoul Subway and Honam High-Speed Railway. Daelim was also part of the joint venture involved in the design and construction of Marina Coastal Expressway.
