Rui En has once again made it into the news for the wrong reason, According to Lianhe Wanbao, Rui En turned up to her neighbour for help, but ended up being rude and showing attitude to the elderly couple.
The incident took place in the evening approximately 6 pm in Clementi area. During that time Ah ma was cooking in the kitchen when she heard someone knocking on the door. Ah gong opens the door and notice it was Rui En.
Her first words to the ah gong were, “your power bank lend me, my phone no battery liao“.
Ah gong says, he does not have a power bank so he invited Rui En into his house to use his house phone.
Ah gong described seeing Rui En squatting near the telephone set worried she might feel uncomfortable therefore offered her a small stool to sit down but she didn’t and after dialled two numbers which did not get through, causing her to slamming on the phone.
Finally, her third call to her helper got through, she asked her helper “where are you? do you know I am waiting for you to come home open the door?”
Ah ma described her as impatient and agitated. She even ordered Ah ma to go upstairs to retrieve some of her items, without a word of thank you.
Ah ma feels so upsets and hurts, therefore Ah gong decided to wrote into Lianhe Wanbao to complain.
After the news broke, Rui En brought a gift basket to apologise to the elderly couple on April 21, 2017.
The elderly couple accepted her apology but declined the gift and hope that she would learn from this incident, saying that as a public figure, she should be aware of her words and actions, and should not take people goodwill as granted.
Last year, Rui En was fined $700 on for driving without due care and attention on July 1, 2016, and caught flouting traffic rules again on Dec 23, 2016.
