Car explosion in Bukit Batok: A video of a car explosion was uploaded on our Facebook yesterday and that garnered quite a good number of views. I guess Singaporeans are quite a caring bunch, judging by the comments of concern for the man who suffered burns on his chest and limbs as a result of the explosion. The man was sent to Singapore General Hospital for treatment, and many asked if he was alright.

This gets a stamp of approval from my Ministry of Singapore Friends (MSF)!

But upon closer look at the comments, you would see that actually, there is more to the case than meets the eye.

Apparently, the car that exploded was a hired car that was not returned.

From the picture above, you can see that the owner of the car has put out a notice for information on the car and the hirer. And apparently, the guy who suffered burns from the explosion has some bad rep of past scams.

Dwight T. Soriano was involved in a number of scams two years ago. He cheated 34 victims of more than $30,000 through online scams. He was jailed for 17 months.

If this is true, let’s hope our friends from Singapore Police Force can get to the bottom of this soon!
